I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Phillipians 4:13

Reflection
Reflection

In the book of Phillipians, the apostle Paul is writing from prison to a church he established in Philippi. The Philippians had heard of Paul’s imprisonment, so he wanted to reassure them of his undiminished joy even in his circumstances. Paul also wanted to encourage the church, because they were experiencing persecution by non-Christian authorities.

Paul makes it clear that we are not self-sufficient. Paul’s continued joy is made possible through Christ. In the same way, Paul encourages us by letting us know that through Christ in us, we, too, can overcome. We are capable of far more than we realize, because Christ is within us. As we get closer to Christmas, we should reflect on the strength made possible in us because of the presence of Christ.

Prayer
Prayer

God of immeasurable power, thank you for the presence of Christ that lives within me. Thank you for the power of Christ that dwells inside of me. Grant me the courage I need to trust that all can be overcome through the strength of Christ.

Amen.
