Daily Scripture

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.

John 14:15-21

Reflection
Reflection

It is counter cultural to rely on something you cannot see or hear or touch or smell. But the Spirit abides within us, just as Jesus promises here. The Spirit is always inviting us to be a part of the divine flow of life. The trinitarian relationship between God, Jesus, and the Spirit is the perfect union of three, and because of that perfect union, we are continually invited into holiness and love. Are you aware of the Spirit’s movement in your own life? Are you open to following wherever it may lead?

True freedom comes not from controlling every aspect of our lives, but from letting go so that we may be swept up in the divine dance of the Spirit abiding within us. John the Baptist has called us to abandon our previous life for one such as this. The Holy Spirit is calling us into truth and freedom. Will we follow?

Prayer
Prayer

Beautiful God, I need you. Create in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. I come before you and ask for your guidance and ask that I may receive all that you have in store for me.

Amen.

How can we be in prayer with you?
