3 Apps to Hear God's Word

3 Apps to Hear God's Word
Written by Chris Davidson

Have you ever heard God speak to you?

I hear him speaking to me every day through my headphones, usually when I’m jogging. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not speaking directly to me. He’s speaking to me through the voices of others as they read Scripture, lead prayer, and facilitate meditation.

Do you feel like God is always with you?

I do. I take him with me everywhere I go. While I firmly believe he is always watching over me, I’m not trying to say he’s literally walking beside me everywhere I go. He’s with me because his Word is with me everywhere I go, always accessible, on my phone.

If you’re like me you always have your phone with you.

Everywhere. And when I don’t I always feel like I’m missing something.

Shouldn’t the same then be true with our relationship with God?

When I feel like I’m in close relationship with Christ I always feel secure, safe, and at peace. In order to have that sense of companionship I realize I must be in Scripture, in prayer, and meditating in his Word every day.

Here are 3 apps I use to stay in relationship with God:

Daily Audio Bible

Daily Audio Bible - https://www.dailyaudiobible.com

The Daily Audio Bible takes you through the whole Bible in a year one day at a time but it's a lot more than that. This isn't just your basic listen along. There is a vibrant and global community going through the Bible together tens of thousands strong. You have to experience it to believe it.

The DAB app is available on their website, as well as for Apple, Amazon Kindle, Windows, and Android devices.

Pray as You Go

Pray As You Go - http://www.pray-as-you-go.org

Pray as you go is a daily prayer session, designed for use on portable devices, to help you pray whenever you find time, but particularly whilst travelling to and from work, study, etc.

A new prayer session is produced every day of the working week and one session for the weekend. It is not a 'Thought for the Day', a sermon or a bible-study, but rather a framework for your own prayer.

Lasting between ten and thirteen minutes, it combines music, scripture and some questions for reflection.

The Pray As You Go app is available on their website, as well as for Apple and Android devices.

The Bible App

YouVersion (The Bible App) - http://www.bible.com

Tens of millions of people are using the Bible App™ to make God's Word a part of their daily lives. Download the free app and access your bookmarks, notes, and reading plans from anywhere. Enjoy hundreds of versions, including audio, all on your mobile device.

The Bible App is available on their website, as well as for Apple, Android, Blackberry, Windows, Java, Symbian, and Kindle devices.
